Redrocks, Morrison Colorado. 9/24/14. Mazda3. Entering the venue involved an up hill stop-n-go distance of several miles never reaching seven mph and never really completely stopping. It was that middle ground of not fast enough to fully dis-engage the clutch or stopped. This was perfect for burning the sucker out. Know your clutch. Know it's friction point and know how slow you can drive it with your foot off the pedal. If I am going to attend events here regularly I will look for an automatic dedicated concert car.

This was looking down the road from my parking spot. There were a fantastic number of cars and people. A good number doing their tailgating thing, some eating big pieces of sub sandwiches chased by glasses of white wine. Others doing the usual beer and monster energy but everyone really chill, enjoying their food out of their trunk/hatch.

After parking, there is MORE walking. (looking from the car to the venue) Engaging my personal clutch I felt a slight burning in the leg gears at the top of the venue. On the walk, among cars still moving around getting to point B on their GPS, i did smell more than one distressed clutch. Some were obviously having a hard time. I can only imagine someone bringing a sports car with a tall first gear and trying to manage. (An 80's Lotus Esprit geared for 60 in first comes to mind) On the right is the hill going up to the top, where a Jeep display was waiting for us, as well as car2go car sharing service, displaying one of their smartcars .

Kings of Leon is a good show. Properly good. David Lee Roth was not karate kick jumping around the stage and Kiss was not blasting fireworks off the shore of the Hudson. Kings were rocking the house with epicly long hooks and big drums and long projecting vocals that were doing some damage to him later on for sure and the guitars wailed. Yes, there were quite a few people sparking up as well. A man, later 40's, two people to my right, was firing up about every three songs and his wife said she had a bottle of wine before it all started. They were completely baked at the end and they were really having a great time. I must say, varying substances smelled in a range of total skunk spray to floral sweet.

They play Alburquerque, NM Friday. Go see, it is a very nice event. KoL delivers.

The drive home was all downhill. I could leave the car in neutral and idle and listen to the pads rub on the discs as the line of cars eases on down, and the crickets chirp in the grassy hills. All around people are walking to their cars discussing everything from the concert itself to where they are going to pee next. Everything was well organized for traffic. It was not a horrible mess getting in or out but plan a half hour or more to get parked once entering the venue, as well as the same time to get out.

That's funny. My buddy was just telling me about Red Rocks ...and now here is an article about it on oppo. Sounds like a sick place. Did you climb up on the rocks?

That's a cool view! I had heard people climb up and watch shows from on top of the rocks. To me it sounds like it would be an accident waiting to happen and would make sense for them not to allow ...but it would be cool none the less!
